However, the pressure on pharmaceutical companies continues to mount as supply chains become more global and decentralized, the global population grows and ages, and chronic diseases become more prevalent. Supply chain <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW110840778 BCX0\">future-proofing<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\"> is therefore imperative for pharmaceutical companies. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">Normally, part of supply chain <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW110840778 BCX0\">future-proofing<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\"> includes redesigning the asset footprint. In the pharmaceutical industry, however, the tremendous costs and stringent regulatory aspects involved in altering the asset footprint itself make such a move <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">rather impractical<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">. This does not mean that pharmaceutical supply chains need not undergo futureproof design: rather, it means that they <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">require<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\"> a customized approach by carefully selecting techniques and strategies <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">appropriate for<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\"> this booming and incredibly complex industry. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">I <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\">identify<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\"> three key strategies <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW110840778 BCX0\">to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110840778 BCX0\"> future-proof supply chains in the pharmaceutical industry: scenario modelling, allocation optimization, and capacity expansion.
